It shows a timeless shape and beautiful colors, combined with a rough and tactile surface. A joyful piece of art pottery. Looking at the signatures we could date this particular piece to the period 1945-1952.

Pieter Groeneveldt was an accomplished artist, ceramist, poet, and pottery manufacturer whose life and work reflect a profound dedication to artistic expression and craftsmanship. He began his artistic journey as a painter, studying at the prestigious Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. However, he grew disillusioned with portrait painting; this led him to open a flower shop named Sheherazade, where he found inspiration in the floral arrangements he crafted. It was in this period he became interested in ceramics.

This brought him to the Tile and Faience Factory Amphora in Oegstgeest, where he received wheel-throwing lessons. Around 1925, Groeneveldt established his own studio in Wassenaar. Despite the factory's success, it went bankrupt in 1973. In the last decade of his life, he dedicated himself to producing unique ceramic pieces from his home.

The vase comes in a very good condition. Signed at the base.

Dimensions: Ø 16 cm x H. 14.5 cm
