Directly from the first owner, this is an early 1970s De Sede DS-101 lounge chair in wonderfully patinated cognac leather.
The design is voluptuous and impressive - quintessentially 1970s but nevertheless also very timeless. The beautiful braided stitching adds visual interest and show the very high quality of the De Sede workshop. These, being a bit theatrical and camp, make the ideal set to spice up your living room. Also, this chair is incredibly comfortable - one can see that immediately by just looking at it. Also, the seat is able to slide forward to create a highly relaxed reclined sitting position.
Designed in 1969 and discontinued a long time ago (rumor has it because these were way too expensive to make), the DS-101 is quite a famous design. Both the sofa and chair were featured in the 1969 James Bond film ‘On Her Majesty's Secret Service’ and numerous famous people have sat on them. Also, the former Dutch queen Beatrix owns a DS-101 sofa which was custom built for her.
It comes in a good vintage condition. Very desirable patina on the leather with only a few marks, scratches and spots - as can be seen in the photos.
Dimensions chair: W. 105 x D. 95 x H. 70 cm (SH. 38 cm)
